1840 SOCIETY: MEMBERSHIP

Membership in The 1840 Society is extended to individuals who have arranged a deferred gift to Southwestern University in any of the following ways:
Bequest in a will or revocable trust
Leave a legacy for your favorite SU program, department, or scholarship without affecting your current assets.
Charitable remainder trust
Provide current tax benefits while retaining a stream of income for you or
other beneficiaries.
Charitable lead trust
Provide income to SU now and pass the principal of the asset back to your heirs at
reduced tax cost.
Beneficiary of an IRA, qualified retirement or pension plan, or annuity
Provide a future gift with possible tax savings for your heirs.
Life insurance policy
Make a significant gift with a modest investment.
